Wow! What challenges did these students face and continue to face as Covid is lingering? Our perspective shifted a bit these past two years. In the past, we required that the student prove that they are attending college. With Covid in the classrooms, we took a more human approach. Our 2020 and 2021 winners were given their award with pride and with hope that it helps them continue to be passionate about their art and life. We have been blessed to have heard from a few of them and it warms my heart whenever we receive a thank you letter. To our winners past and present, you inspire me, us, so greatly. We SEE you. Don’t ever stop believing in yourself. The world is waiting for you.

One thing that I love about paying it forward through scholarship is the Thank you letter and cards we get from our students. This year was no exception. It warms my heart to witness the impact a small gesture can be for someone. This is something that I hope we can continue for a very long time.

Today starts a new school year in New York, best of luck to everyone! We’ll be looking getting ready for our 2018 applications soon!

Kelly

Thank you all for the continued support!

Our scholarship night speech- congratulations to our two recipients!

Good evening. My name is Pietrina Dalba, and myself along with his wife, Kelly Pizzurro and longtime friend, Jacqui Pollio, are here to present the fourth annual Joseph Pizzurro Memorial Scholarship to two of North Babylon’s 2016 graduating seniors. My brother was an amazing artist, excelling in drawing, painting, and web design. After graduating high school in 2002, Joe went on to become a successful graphic designer as well as a partner in a thriving graphic design business. Art was his life and it encompassed who he was as a person. This year’s scholarship is also in memory of our dear friend, Raymond Mazzilli, who recently passed away. Ray was a very talented artist and graduated from N.B.H.S. in 2002 as well. Amongst other applicants, the recipients of this scholarship were selected in that they possessed many of the artistic qualities Joe had. We wish them the best of luck as they begin their college careers in the art field in the fall. We are pleased to announce that this year’s Joseph Pizzurro Memorial Scholarship goes to Ruth M and Tan D.

I am happy to say that we are now a Non Profit registered on Amazon Smile. If you select our organization we are eligible to receive donations from purchases of eligible items.

2016, a new year, another scholarship opportunity.  I am incredibly excited for this year!  2016 started off extremely well thanks for one of my longest and closest friends, Matt Sulzer. Matt works for GEICO and over the summer he inquired about their Philanthropy endeavors. A few emails and scanned documents later a request was submitted to make a contribution to the Joseph M. Pizzurro Memorial Foundation. Time went on and at the beginning of January I received a check in the mail – enough to cover our scholarship this year and then some! $3,000 raised before fundraising even kicked off! With this we can provide scholarships and/or help those in our communities in their time of need. With this as the start of 2016 fundraising we have an amazing foundation to build off of. The possibilities are endless.

Thank you, Matt, for being a great friend and for taking the time to ask questions. It paid off ten fold this time! We are so grateful!

With Thanksgiving right around the corner it felt fitting to send out some heartfelt Thank You notes.

First, we would like to thank Rick Manzano and the Creative Take team for creating this wonderful website! I cannot express how grateful we are that you all took the time to make this site in memory of Joe.

Second, we would like to thank the Creative Department at Henry Schein for collecting $160 for the Joe Pizzurro Memorial Scholarship! What a great way to kick off fundraising for the 2016 scholarship. With a goal of $1,500 this contribution starts us off at 11% to goal!

Both are amazing tributes to your friend and colleague, Joe.

Third, thank you to all of you who have helped by contributing to the last three scholarships. Not only have you helped three very deserving students but it has helped us to establish the Joseph M. Pizzurro Memorial Foundation, Inc. Our foundation is growing and we are very excited about how we are going to expand to help others. Thank you again and again and again for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Kelly
